IMPORTANT questions

  • If this is your first time in therapy, welcome! Therapy will either be virtual or in-person depending on what state you live in (WA/MT). Therapy is a space where you get to show up and be fully you. Some weeks clients show up and they want to unpack or focus on something difficult that occurred recently, and other weeks we continue to explore ongoing areas that help you grow and gain skills. Therapy is not a scary or judgemental place but a cozy space where you get to feel seen.

Prior to the intake: I will email you a few documents for you to complete and sign so I can get an idea of whats going on so we don’t waste time in our first meeting.

The first meeting is an intake meeting: Here I ask you a handful of questions so I can really understand what is going on (You can feel free to ask me questions as well). After I ask my questions, I’ll share with you only my thoughts and observations about what you’ve told me, so you always know what I’m thinking and make sure I really understand. Then at the end of the meeting, I share my thoughts and plan for how I am going to help you feel better.

Normal meetings: We often will check in on how you are showing up, recognize big changes, and continue discussions from previous sessions. They can be as light or as heavy as we need.

**Therapy is confidential (so unlike your family and friends, I am not legally allowed to share any information with anyone unless requested.)

  • This is a question I get ALL the time, and I get it. Your lives are busy and important, and therapy takes vulnerability. You may also be one of the people that want change to happen overnight. Realistically, when we have learned something for years or we get to benefit from doing something, expecting it to change instantly isn’t a fair request of ourselves. In order for change to happen, we must understand WHY is occurring.

What helps my clients see positive change in their lives is when they show up with the intention to work hard, be honest with themselves, and commit to their growth outside of weekly therapy. These are ongoing conversations we have in treatment.

  • Standard individual sessions are 50 minutes. Couples therapy sessions are 50-90 minutes. Extended sessions are scheduled for certain therapy services at the discretion of your therapist.

  • Ages 10+

Therapy with littles can occur, that would just need to be a conversation you have with Megan to assess the benefits or offer other options. Please know that family therapy sessions are encouraged at least 1 / a month for younger clients to help the family grow as a whole.

I offer parenting sessions, so if you feel your little one would have a hard time in counseling-we can start with parenting support to focus on improving family dynamics and structure.

Many people have out of network benefits they can use for therapy that they are unaware of, but benefits vary by plan. You can submit your own claims directly to your insurance through your member portal, or through a third party app like Reimbursify. To find out what your out of network benefits are, contact your insurance company and simply ask However, services may be covered in full or in part by your out of network health insurance or employee benefit plan. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:

1.Do I have mental health insurance for out-of-network benefits?

2.What is my deductible and has it been met?

3.How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover for out-of-network-providers?

4.What is the coverage amount per therapy session with an out-of-network provider?

5.what is my out of network reimbursement for outpatient therapy?"
